Commander's Comments --col. Paul Madsen

Wow! What a summer! I am pleased with the Battalion's involvement in so many great opportunities to fulfill Brigham Young's prophecy to hold the men and women of the Battalion in honorable remembrance. Honor has certainly been given by our participation in some of the most outstanding events throughout the U.S. For the rededication of "This Is the Place State Park and Monument," the Battalion conducted the Flag Ceremony and led the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem, in the presence of the Prophet. During the reenactment of the enlistment of the Battalion in Council Bluffs, Iowa, we were the Honor Guard and carded the Colors, receiving both national and church-wide news recognition. It is difficult to keep track of all the parades and other functions during July in which the Battalion participated. On the 4th of July alone, we marched in five parades and had to turn down other requests. Keep up the good work!

Lets all participate in the up-coming memorializations in the next two months. This is always a great opportunity to emphasize the history of the Battalion. The memorialization of Ephraim K. Hanks in Caineville was a great success with over one hundred in attendance.
