I just returned from the Mormon Battalion tour through Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri--a thrilling, exuberating experience that only one who participated can appreciate.
The visitors' centers at Carthage, Nauvoo, and Chimney Rock were especially interesting, and I was so grateful to re-visit Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahman, the Liberty Jail, and the Nauvoo Temple site. All the grounds were beautiful and well-kept at each place.
I also enjoyed the informative talks by Maj. Garn Hatch as we traversed the 3,300 mile journey. The Grand Encampment at Council Bluffs was especially exciting. To watch the re-enactment of the enlistment of that first Mormon Battalion, and then to march with the women, representing those women of the Battalion, was a truly spiritual experience. Also, I helped "woman" the booth where our items sold very well. The entire experience was historically a highlight in my life. I wish that all of you could have attended.
