I have had the recent privilege to participate in some impressive flag ceremonies/pledges of allegiance. On June 11, at Utah State Prison, 59 high school graduates, 23 community college graduates, and 3 Utah State University graduates stood and pledged their allegiance to the flag. Through education, a great healing process has occurred in these inmates! On June 14, I participated with 8 of our members, under the direction of Maj. Carl Larson, in memorializing the grave of Wilham Wallace Casper. at Elysian Gardens, and 210 people joined us in the ceremony. On June 7, several Battalion members presented the flag ceremony and pledge in Grantsville at the dedication of the Hilda Anderson Erickson statue by Pres. James Faust of the First Presidency. What an honor it is to be a part of these ceremonies where lives of men gone wrong are being changed, where original Battalion men are memorialized at their grave, and where one of the last pioneers to come to Utah territory was rightfully honored. What an honor to belong to this great Battalion and to be a part of the great events occurring now in our great State!
