At a recent Eagle Scout Court of Honor, someone asked one of the men of the Battalion, "What do you do for the young women when they receive their awards?" Actually, we do not do anything, but perhaps we should(?). The Young Women receive their Medallion at a awards ceremony from their Bishop. Should (could) we be a part of that program? Of course, these girls could ride or march in our parades wearing the pioneer costume, maybe with banners which they have made. The Ladies of the Auxiliary could (should?) encourage children and grandchildren to participate in various ways. This would result in more recruitment, too. Remember, it is the responsibility of each company commander to share equally with the Ladies of the Auxiliary in achieving our mutual goals. Please share with these ladies!
Also, we have a National Staff of Auxiliary who are willing and eager to help each Company Auxiliary to succeed. We are aware that women join the Auxiliary for various reasons. Some join for the socialness; some, for the treks we sponsor; some, because their husbands joined the Battalion; and, some joined because they have caught the vision of fulfilling prophecy and bringing honor and recognition to the women and men of the original Battalion. ALL WOMEN should expect to gain from ALL of these reasons, but, especially, we hope that ALL will actively seek to achieve this last one. As we reflect on our past achievements, let us remember what we have learned and seek new ways to achieve new goals.
