This Sesquicentennial year has been a banner year for the Ladies Auxiliary! It has been
both thrilling and exciting, capped by participation in the re-dedication of the Battalion
Monument on the State Capitol grounds. Many thanks to Col. Paul Madsen and Past Commanders
for the years of diligent effort and, now, to the Monument Committee for bringing this
event to fruition. Included on the plaques, adjacent to the monument, are the names of all
the women who were associated with the Battalion--those who made the march, or were sent
to Pueblo, or remained with the Saints--a long-time goal of the Auxiliary finally
achieved! Also, we have had the pleasure of memorializing the graves of eight women
associated with the Mormon Battalion. Becoming acquainted with the living descendants of
these women has been a most rewarding experience. We send our love and appreciation to
each of you for your efforts in making the Auxiliary successful.
