1997 was indeed successful in every aspect! All our events fit in very well with the
Sesquicentennial theme--even Mormon Battalion Day at Brighton coincided with history. The
re-dedication of the Monument at the State Capitol was truly a highlight and a memorable
experience for all who participated. The many memorializations throughout the year were
both fulfilling and rewarding. It was so exciting to see families participating in
remembering their ancestor in such a special way. President, appoint a Memorialization
Director to work with families of Battalion women. Set a goal to memorialize all those
women whose graves lie within your area. We memorialized nine women in 1997. Let's
duplicate this feat in 1998! I extend my deepest love to each of you!
