FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Ladies Auxiliary has financial needs. Despite the fact that we, of the National Staff, support our Battalion activities at our own expense (a trip to a memorialization in St. George, for example, can cost $100 for two days), we feel it justified to accept nominal support from the membership for our Staff expenses. Will you please consider that we do not spend any of your dues money on anything but National Staff necessities. Please pay your dues ($10.) regularly, by the beginning of the year. You should pay your company dues at the same time. If you feel that you will remain with the Mormon Battalion for an indefinite time, why not pay your LIFE membership dues ($50.) and enjoy the luxury of not being dunned each year? Presidents, please take care of your "dues" responsibility this month. They are sent to our National financial secretary, Nancy Williams, whose address is listed above.

COMPASSIONATE SERVICE

Recently, one of our dedicated sisters, whose husband had died some time ago, passed away without notice from our organization. Since every auxiliary may have such members whose husbands have preceded them to Paradise, we must be conscious of their vulnerability to the same call. While they are surrounded by family and cared for, nevertheless it behooves us to show our loyalty by keeping in constant contact with them. Each auxiliary president should be aware of these special few, and plan contact to be made regularly. A nearby auxiliary member might be assigned to visit her and remain aware of her needs. You, as president, may have personal, periodic contact with a member of her family who would alert you to any change in her health. Let us not allow one of our dear sisters to "graduate" without our knowledge. President, please make a plan with your staff and members to keep in contact with one another--especially, those who were once your leaders and are still your loyal supporters. This must be done on a voluntary, loving basis, of course.

A COMPASSIONATE RELEASE

We have reluctantly released Thelma Miller as Publicity Director, due to her serious illness. Thelma has been very successful in fulfilling her assignment, and we will sorely miss her presence, but we wish her a successful recovery. We love you, Thelma!
