COMMANDER'S COMMENT Col. Clayton Fairbourn

Recently, my wife and I spent some time in Europe, traveling through many of the places where the Germans attempted their conquest in two world wars. Among other sights, we visited the "Eagle's Nest" of Hitler. More than 53 years have passed since the atrocities of the Third Reich, but we still wonder,"How did Hitler ever conceive of such an evil plan that deceived a great nation and involved the world in a Great War?" It is interesting to contrast Hitler's attempt to conquer the world, and the establishment of the Kingdom of God and the rightful purposes it has for man's search for happiness. I am proud to be dedicating part of my life to such an organization as the U.S. Mormon Battalion, Inc., to keep us in honorable remembrance of our original Battalion and their contributions to our Nation and to our Church in promulgating God's Plan, and establishing Freedom as a way of life across this great land.
