COMPANY NEWS
Company "B" Sandy, Capt. Don Schurtz, C.O.
Christmas is a wonderful time! This one brought back many pleasant memories, as well as the joy of watching the anticipation of our children or grandchildren as they opened their presents from under the tree. Christmas is really the children's day--no matter how old we are! It is the epitome of Giving, which is truly the spirit of Christmas. I wish each of you a Happy New Year. Company "B" has had a very successful year and we look forward to another one this year. Thanks for all you do for the Mormon Battalion.Company A" Capt. Grant Wood., C.O.
As we approach the Holiday Season, and the celebration of the birth of our Savior, I think again of how fortunate we are. We can think, vote, travel, do what we want to do, while we are not plagued with hurricanes, tornadoes, or extremes of weather (except that 38-below last week!). Most of us enjoy all the creature comforts; we have much to be thankful for. We are also blessed with the time and talent to honor those who have made all this comfort possible--our Battalion forefathers (and foremothers). Let us give thanks for them and their accomplishments, which provides us with opportunities to do good. Most of all, may we be thankful for the love of a Heavenly Father who sent His Son to provide the Way for us to return to Heavenly Happiness. May the Lord bless us to be thankful.Kane Company, Ltc. Howard Roberts, Jr., C.O.
To summarize the past 3 months: In September, Kane Company was color guard for SWISS DAYS in Santa Clara. I was pleased to note that most people saluted the flag by placing their hand over their heart.
In October, we sponsored the memorialization of the grave of Edward Bunker in Bunkerville, NV. All was well organized and well received; the time and effort to sponsor this event was well worth it as we held in honorable remembrance another of our deceased heroes. We are grateful to the National Staff and Capt. Don Shurtz for their co-operation. We are always happy to have these people visit us.

We were pleased to participate as the color guard in the Santa Clara SWISS DAYS parade. We also had a booth set up to advertise the Battalion, and many came by. We are grateful that Ltc. Roberts and Kane Company participated with us.
