I am the Gr, Gr, Gr, Gr, grandson of Christopher Layton who served in Company C under the leadership of Captain James Brown. I really enjoy reading about things that my grandfather has done. He did a lot for the Battalion as well as the Mormon church and our country.

Great site. I am descendent of Catherine Hunt the sister of Captain Jefferson Hunt. I looked at the roster and found the following related family members.
Jefferson Hunt, Gilbet Hunt, Marshall Hunt, Nicholas Kelley, Alfred G. Wilson, Dennis Wilson Winn, and Celia Mounts Hunt, Matilda Nease Hunt, Malinda Allison Kelley, and Sarah Kelley. THere are also listed George Kelly and George Deliverance Wilson, but I don't see any relation in my genealoly file, so probably no relation. I would be interested in any family history on these related families, especially on Henry Kelly who married Caty HUNT daughter of John Hunt and Martha Jenkins.

William Bailey Maxwell is my g-g-grandfather. My husband descends
through the Binghams. The only picture I have seen of Will Maxwell is
when he was elderly. It was wonderful to see him as a young man.
Thank you for this wonderful website!!!!!

I don't know why it matters that they were Mormon they were Americans and it was their duty. It would be nice if the Mormon church made a vistor center as nice as this for the Meadow Mountain Massacre victims, and they were killed at the hands of Mormons. They get a little stone, marker but some guys who did what was their american duty get a whole building and vistor center.
